We would like you to work with us to co-produce improvements for children, young people with SEND.  Over the next few months we are holding a range of co-production events:

Improving EHCP Processes

Date: 1 October, 2019

Time:  10.00am – 2.30pm

Venue:  Lockyer Suite, The Rufus Centre, Steppingly Road, Flitwick MK45 1AH

Aim of the workshop:

The aim of this workshop is to review the following processes and to identify improvements that we can make to make sure these are working well for children, young people, their families and all other people involved in following the processes.

  • Request for an EHC needs assessment
  • EHC assessment and planning
  • Annual review
  • Post-16 transition
  • Dispute resolution

Outcomes for Children and Young People with SEND

 Date: 15 October, 2019

Time:  10.00am – 2.30pm

We want to develop a set of shared outcomes for children and young people with SEND.  This will mean that all organisations and services who are supporting children and young people with SEND in Luton will be working towards the same outcomes and have shared priorities for improvements.

Aim of the workshop:

The aim of this workshop is to gather views on outcomes that are important for children and young people with SEND and to consider how these can be measured.

Improving the Local Offer – Luton’s On-Line resource for SEND

Date: 28 October 2019

Time:  10.00am – 2.30pm

Venue:  Cedar Hall, Leagrave Centre, Luton LU4 9ND

We intend the Local Offer on-line website to be a one-stop shop for information, support, services and activities available for children and young people with SEND and their families.  We know that we need to improve the Local Offer and work is underway to do this.

Aim of the workshop:

Following feedback from a previous Parent and Carer workshop, the aim of this workshop is to focus on a range of age groups and identify how the information and resources on the Local Offer can be improved for each of these age groups.

SEND Strategy and plans

Date: 12 November, 2019

Time:  10.00am – 2.30pm

Once we have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of children and young people with SEND (SEND Needs Assessment) and a set of shared outcomes that we need to deliver(Outcomes Framework), we will develop a SEND strategy that sets out our overarching vision and priorities for SEND in Luton.

SEND Consultation/Survey and meetings with Parents and Carers

In addition to the workshops during September 2019, there will be other opportunities for children, young people and their families to contribute to the following areas:

  • Principles of Co-production
  • Needs Assessment
  • Outcomes Framework

We are planning to do the following:

  • Run a consultation/survey from 30th September – 18 October 2019.  There will be a survey for Parents and Carers and one for young people.   A link to the Consultation will be available on the Local Offer.
  • Holding parent/carer meetings in schools (Special Schools and those that have a special provision for children with SEND).
