Luton Parent Carer Voice an update for all Professionals

25/11/2020

At the end of March 2020, the Parent Carer Forum for the Luton area closed. The Department for Education commissioned Contact, a national organisation, to oversee parent participation throughout England, who are now actively involved in facilitating the formation of a new forum for Luton. Luton partners including the Local Authority and the Clinical Commissioning Group are also very keen to support the new arrangements.

Local families have come forward and have established a new Forum, which they have called Luton Parent Carer Voice. Members have agreed the forum aim is to collect the independent voice of local families in Luton. The forum will play a lead role in shaping how SEND services are designed, delivered and promoted.

It welcomes families of children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND 0-25) and is open to parent carers, family members, guardians and foster parents of children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (no diagnosis needed).

Contact have appointed associate Ruth Hobbs to work with local families to establish the new forum for Luton.

As a professional working in Luton, please promote the Forum to parents.

For more information parents are asked to contact Ruth via email ruth@hobbsconsultancy.co.uk or on 07729 099576.
