EHCPs and statutory processes – training for Education, Health and Social Care Professionals

Supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

This workshop is for all health, social care and education colleagues involved in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working with colleagues from different organisations, this workshop will enable you to gain a clear understanding of:

  • what we mean by SEN
  • key elements of the statutory SEND Code of Practice and roles and responsibilities
  • key messages from parents and carers about their experiences
  • the difference between SEN support and an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
  • processes for requesting, developing, implementing and reviewing EHCP
  • the 20 week time-line
  • the different sections of the EHCP
  • person centred planning and how to write outcome focused advice for an EHCP
  • the importance of the Local Offer
  • the role of SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)
