Abigail Court

Abigail Court is a Luton Borough Council extra care sheltered housing scheme designed for people who need more assistance and still want to live independently. This is a good alternative to residential care as reducing your independence can often lead to deterioration in health and wellbeing.

Each home is self contained, so you have the freedom and privacy of your own front door, an alarm system linked to a control centre, and the use of additional shared facilities. It enables you to live independently and feel secure knowing that there is help when you need it.

Facilities include:

  • a resident scheme manager
  • a 24 hour emergency alarm system
  • a variety of social activities that you can choose to join in
  • a residents’ social area
  • communal gardens

Sheltered housing is generally for people over 60, although if you are younger you will be considered if you have a disability or have a need for community care. Priority is given to applicants who would most benefit from this type of accommodation.

If you think you might need ‘extra care’ sheltered housing you will have to have your needs assessed by Adult Social Care. They might be able to help you in other ways too.
