Support with Autism Network (SWAN)

The autism spectrum team can offer advice on how to develop children’s social interaction, communication and flexible thinking skills and discuss what support is available from educational, health and social services.

Meetings will often have a themed topic such as ‘Communication’ or ‘Managing Transitions’ and we invite speakers from other services to share information about support available.

SWAN meeting dates 2023 - 2024

We aim to provide a relaxed atmosphere where everyone is welcome, even if just for a coffee and a chat - but unfortunately we are unable to offer crèche facilities.

There are alternative groups in Luton for families of children and young people affected by autism, you can visit the other group pages here:

Autism West Midlands have prepared many free information sheets which can be downloaded as PDFs from their Autism information resources webpage. They contain practical advice and strategies for families, carers, teachers and other professionals. The webpage also features basic information on autism in other languages under the 'Other language versions' section.

In partnership with River Bank Primary, The Autism Spectrum Team, from the Special Educational Needs Service (SENS), run a support group for families affected by autism in the local community.

The group hold half-termly meetings, where carers have the opportunity to speak to professionals, and meet with other carers. Guest speakers are regularly invited to share their expertise.

The group have a mailing list, which we use to inform members of upcoming meetings, and to share information, news and events relating to autism in the local area. If you would like to join the mailing list, please email the team:
