This setting has been awarded the Gold Award for Transition. Which focuses on supporting the child and family when moving onto a new education setting.
Training Depot Day Nursery opened in November 2006. The Nursery benefits from the location of being near the town centre and the train station. The beautiful parks surrounding the Nursery are also regularly visited by our children and staff.
We open Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm all year round except on bank holidays. The Nursery is registered for children aged 10 months to 8 years old, with 5 to 8 year olds only attending during school holidays. The Nursery accepts 3 year and 4 year old children who attend just for the 15 or 30 hours free provided by the Government. We also accept 2 year olds who are eligible for a free place for 15 hours per week.
Training Depot Day Nursery fully embraces the multicultural community of which we are a part and our children regularly visit the surrounding shops. In addition to this we have an ongoing relationship with St Ann’s Care Home for the Elderly, here we utilise their extensive garden with learning about planting, growing and harvesting, we also play in our ‘mud kitchen’.
The Nursery does take pride in our talented and highly trained staff: In February 2016 we achieved our Gold Award for Investors in People accreditation. We have accreditation for Family Food First and have helped them in developing their learning framework. We have also achieved Healthy Smiles Status and continue to be a Portage friendly setting.
