About us

We are growing to be a church, which is a ‘community of missional communities’.  Some of our church meets in Beacon gatherings away from our main building in different locations in Luton and the surrounding area.

We are one church but expressed in a variety of beacon groups based in Luton and beyond. These communities are the building blocks of SBC life, offering discipleship and encouraging us to be missional people in all aspects of the lives we lead. Details of these are available in the Beacon section of website- Beacons

We continue, however, to host a service every week in our main building.

Our regular Sunday morning service is an informal but passionate gathering and usually includes lively times of sung worship, story-telling, Bible teaching and prayer.  We want people to come to participate not to spectate and encourage as many as possible to take the opportunity to serve in making these times the best they can be for everyone.

Our service begins at 10.30am but is preceded by a time of prayer from 10am to which all are invited.

Our service ends with the opportunity to share coffee and share news.

Children and families are really important in the life of our church and our community. Here at SBC we have loads for you to get involved with!   For more information on activities for children and families can be found here.

Greenhouse Youth Centre

The GreenHouse Youth Centre is run by Stopsley Baptist church. We are here to make contact with local young people, to connect them to each other and God, and commission them to make a difference in their world. For general youth enquiries contact

Stopsley Baptist Church has a thriving ministry among our Seniors, led by a dedicated team and looking to provide an active and supportive community centred on the gospel of Christ and open to all. The Seniors meet at our main building for indoor bowls, Tuesday afternoon fellowship and Sunday Worship hour.   For more details of these activities contact:

Lounge Cafe

The Lounge Cafe is situated on the ground floor of SBC and is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm term time only.

Pete Brown is a qualified chef, offering a variety of quality dishes from the early morning breakfast to mid-morning snacks and cooked to order lunches from a daily specials menu. Sue McFarlane offers a welcoming front of house and is skilled in the preparation of speciality coffees.

The Lounge Café is an integral part of the church’s Children’s Ministry and Children’s Centre users and offers parents the opportunity to meet in a safe environment, high chairs are provided and children are catered for from the table menu.  This environment is often noisy and hectic between 11.30 and 12.30 so those who prefer a quieter dining experience are advised to come after 1pm.
