Atwell House is a newly refurbished unit that opened in November 2008 to meet the needs of seven Service Users aged 3o and above with Learning Disability and Learning Disability plus Dementia.  It was created to provide person centred care in a home from home environment in line with the principles advocated in the government's agend of 'Valuing People'.

Service users who also have any physical disability needs on account of their dementai progressing can also be cared for as the home has a lift and specially adapted bathrooms.

Located in the Leagrave area of Luton within walking distance of shops, banks, post office, library, chemist and the British Legion Club. The home is approximately one mile from junction 11 of the M1 motorway and easy access to Leagrave Railway Station.

 Accommodation
The home has seven bedrooms all with en-suites (three with showers), a specially adapted bathroom with 'hi-low' bath and walk-in shower, hoists, a lounge, kitchen, dining area and conservatory. Outside there is an enclosed garden and patio area with raised beds to encourage service users who wish to to be able to assist with planting and gardening.

A nurse call system with access to modern assistive technology is in situ and there is a lift to the second floor. The home also has the use of an adapted minibus to ensure service users can remain socially inclusive and access the day centre at Alicia Nursing Home should they wish to attend.
