Luton Law Centre

Luton Law Centre is a not-for-profit legal practice which gives professional, confidential legal advice and assistance. We are a member of the Law Centres Network (LCN) and Advice UK. We work closely with local partner organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, Luton Rights and Luton Irish Forum.

We employ qualified lawyers and caseworkers who provide a full legal service which is Lexcel (Law Society) accredited .

We specialise in social welfare law including;

Community care – rights and entitlement to social care and health care services; for older people, young people leaving care, people with disabilities, and physical and mental health problems.

Housing – tenancies, rent or mortgage arrears, eviction, homelessness, disrepair

Immigration and Nationality – rights of entry and residence in the UK, citizenship,

Since the restrictions on legal aid for immigration advice, we have introduced a fee-paid service for people who can afford to pay towards the cost of their case.  Please see the attached flyer, or call the advice line, on 01582 481000 or 01582 480745 for more details.

Refugees and Asylum -  asylum claims and support

Welfare Benefits Upper Tribunal cases -  We can provide access to legal aid for cases going to the Upper Tribunal, when the first appeal has been refused.  Unfortunately, we can no longer provide a full advice service in Welfare Benefits, but there are other agencies who can and we can refer you for the help you need.

In most cases the Law Centre’s legal help is free, and we will claim legal aid where it is available.  There are some situations when you might have to pay towards the cost of your case. We will always tell you if there is any chance you may have to pay some money.

We give initial free advice on our telephone advice line 01582 481000;

For advice about Housing or Community Care

10.30am – 12.30pm  Monday, Tuesday or Thursday

For advice about Immigration, Nationality or Asylum

10am – 1pm on Fridays.

We can often give a lot of information and advice on the telephone. If that’s not enough and we need to talk to you face to face or look at paperwork we will make an appointment for you.
