Hospice at Home Volunteers (Luton and District)

We are a registered charity covering the Dunstable and Houghton Regis area. Our volunteers offer a free service that provides strength and encouragement at a difficult time. We offer practical help where it is needed to those suffering a life limiting illness and their family and carers.

The name Hospice at Home was chosen because we wanted to be able to offer people who are suffering from life limiting illnesses, the help, support, love and friendship that is found in all hospices but in the comfort and privacy of their own home. This enables them to establish a new friendship with the Volunteer and the carers to have a break while their loved ones are in the care of someone they can trust.

No charge is made to either clients, their families, carers or friends.

Neither does its provision affect the receipt of benefits or care that they are entitled to from the NHS. The Volunteers expenses are met by individual donations or by organisations who support our service.

Our Volunteers Co-ordinators liaise with other professionals and attend multidisciplinary meetings. Through contacts within the local community we can supply information on equipment, e.g. Wheelchairs, walking frames, etc., ready prepared meals and other services.
