Luton Deaf Advisory and Support team (LDAST)

​LDAST provides support for deaf children and their families. The team make visits to homes, nurseries, schools and colleges.

The levels of support are based on the levels of deafness and deafness is one of many additional needs.

The team offers specialist advice and support about:

  • the development of listening, language and communication
  • learning
  • social-emotional development
  • strategies for school and setting staff
  • training for professionals
  • transition between settings
  • the use of hearing technology and specialist equipment

LDAST works closely with a wide range of professionals including:

  • audiologists
  • educational psychologists
  • speech and language therapists
