Samaritans Luton, South Beds and Harpenden

Whatever you are going through, whether it's big or small, don't bottle it up. If you find yourself feeling upset, troubled, confused, worried or just want to talk to someone.
Samaritans is here to help you.

Who does the service support?

Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support to people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those that may lead to suicide, on the phone, face to face, by email and by letter, 24 hours a day, everyday of the year.

What can you expect from the Service?

We are not a religious or a political organisation. We don't make judgments and we don't offer advice. Instead, we believe in the value of having time and space to explore difficult feelings. We also believe that being listened to in confidence, and accepted without prejudice, can alleviate despair and suicidal feelings.

How do you get involvement from the service/who can refer/request involvement?

You can call, email or write a letter to Samaritans. We also have a self-help app to keep track of how you are feeling.

What happens after the service has been involved?

If you call, you will be put through to a volunteer at one of the 201 branches. If you email, we aim to respond within 24 hours and if you write to us, we aim to respond within 7 days. You can also visit one of the branches who will speak to you.

What can parents/ families do if they are not eligible for the service/schools don't feel they can refer to this service?

We have strong referral relationships with partner agencies working with vulnerable groups.
