POhWER delivers information, advice, support and advocacy services throughout England and aim to support people who face difficult issues and want to make their voice heard.  POhWER has been working in Luton since 2003.

They regularly work with:

  • People who feel they have been let down by the NHS and want to make a complaint,
  • Older people.
  • People assessed by a doctor or social worker as lacking mental capacity to make their own decisions.
  • People with mental health issues,
  • People with sensory impairment,
  • People with physical disabilities,
  • People with learning disabilities,
  • Children and young people,
  • People with autism,
  • People who have experienced discrimination or exclusion.

All POhWER's services are free, independent and confidential.

Advocacy plays a big part in the services we provide. Luton POhWER provides the following services:

  • NHS Complaints Advocacy
  • NHS Complaints Advocacy toolkit
  • Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA), including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Paid Relevant Persons Representative Services.
  • Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA)
  • Community Advocacy
  • Resolutions Drug and Alcohol service users
