Luton & Dunstable Hospital - Disability Services
Disability Services
We hope you will find below all the disabled services information you require when visiting the L&D.
Supporting patients with a disability
If you have a disability and require further assistance please come to the main reception on arrival, or telephone the main reception on 01582 497314 before visiting the hospital. Alternatively during your visit please speak to the nurse in charge of your ward to make sure that our staff are aware of your needs.
Supporting patients who have a learning disability
Patients with learning disabilities will need special consideration to ensure that they receive the care and treatment which meets their specific needs and maintains their safety. Preparation is crucial in supporting people with learning disabilities; whether carrying out examinations, investigations, treatment or supporting an admission onto a ward.
We have two Learning Disability Nurses at the L&D (Ilona Brunzel and Juliet Foster) who help support adults, their carers and family who have a learning disability. Ilona and Juliet work with hospital staff to help them to understand how best to support and care for people who have a learning disability.
