Midwifery Service

The midwifery team works in Luton to support health and well being amongst expectant mums throughout pregnancy, labour and the post natal period. 

As soon as you know you are pregnant you need to contact a midwife, this can be done by filling in the online form or through your GP.

The L&D Maternity team strives to deliver the best possible care to all women and their families. We aim to provide services which are flexible and meet your individual needs.  We have a highly experienced team of Midwives and Obstetricians supported by Matrons and Specialist experts to ensure that our mums to be receive optimum care

We are able to provide full midwifery led care for low risk women as well as high quality obstetric led care to women with complicated pregnancies. Our neonatal unit is one of only three units in the East of England who are able to provide care for very premature and sick newborns.

We are proud to offer extensive antenatal screening services which meet the recommended National Screening Standards.

We offer women a wide range of choices of where to birth their baby. We are able to provide a high level of support to women who choose to birth at home, in midwifery led birthing unit or under Consultant led care in our delivery suite.

The care we provide is evidence based and research including the recent place of birth study informs our practice.
