Luton SEND Strategic Work
We are working hard in Luton to improve the services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Luton SEND Information Advice Support service (SENDIAS) provides free impartial information, advice and signposting to children, young people and their parents on matters relating to special educational needs and disability.
Trained officers are able to talk through the options available, the possible outcomes and help you make informed decisions.
Please visit our new website at www.sendiasluton.co.uk or call 01582 548156.
Update: Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) processes
We're working really hard to keep EHC plan processes moving but because of Covid 19 and the impact it is having on capacity within health, social care and education services ,it means that there may be delay in the contribution from advice givers in these services.
We'll use our best endeavours to ensure that the EHC plan process takes place within statutory timescales however this might not always be possible during this period.
In addition, education, health and care needs assessments for an EHC plan may look different as it becomes more difficult for many services to do their work face to face. They may need to do more by telephone or video call where possible.
Our decision making panels are still taking place however they are moving to online meetings. We will continue to review these processes and provide regular updates.
Luton’s Psychology Service, Autism and SEN teams provide advice, guidance and resources for ‘looking after yourself, looking after your children’ and returning to school
Luton Parent Carer Voice
Parent carer forums can help local authorities to engage with local families and understand the local needs so they can plan services for disabled children and their families effectively to meet these.
Free to join and use, the forums are open to parent carers, family members, guardians and foster parents of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities 0 to 25 (no diagnosis needed).
You said, We did
The Local Offer is intended for you and so we want you to shape what this looks like. See what we've done in response to your feedback and help us to make it the best it can be by sending your feedback.
